Obey Your Parents

For the last few months, we have been using our Grow Up in Christ Chart (from More! Bible Crafts on a Shoestring Budget). We started with the bottom left leaf and have been working our way to the top. Our lesson for this week was on obeying our parents. We are almost to the top!

We read the story of Jonah and the whale and discussed how Jonah disobeyed God. God tells us to obey our parents:

Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
~Ephesians 6:1
(Our memory verse for this week)

So, when we disobey our parents, we are also disobeying God. To help us remember to obey, we made Obey O-Meters (this idea came from Ministry-To-Children.com).

We also made fun crafts to help us remember the story of Jonah and sang a super cute song (along with hand movements that we made up) from  bibleschoolteachers.blogspot.com.

Where is Jonah? Where is Jonah?
In a boat. In a boat.
What is Jonah doing? What is Jonah Doing?
Running from God. Running from God.

Where is Jonah? Where is Jonah?
In a fish. In a fish.
What is Jonah doing? What is Jonah doing?
Praying to God. Praying to God.

Where is Jonah? Where is Jonah?
On a hill. On a hill.
What is Jonah doing? What is Jonah doing?
Learning to love. Learning to love.

Where is Jonah? Where is Jonah?
Nineveh. Nineveh.
What is Jonah doing? What is Jonah doing?
Sharing God's love. Sharing God's love.

Whew! It was a busy hour, but lots of fun!!!
God bless!
~Stephanie

The obey meter did not come from Ministry to Children. This craft was created by me and is copyrighted. Please give the correct recognition and put a link back to this page of my web site. http://www.daniellesplace.com/html/bible_themes_o_-_p.html Carolyn Warvel - www.daniellesplace.com
